CISSP DOMAINS: Security and Risk Management, Security Operations.

For our February event, we're trying out a new venue but we're keeping the same great content and planned an event that is not to be missed. Imran Ahmad will be visiting us from Toronto to give us the pulse of cybersecurity in Canada and local InfoSec expert Tom Levasseur will show us the innerworkings of ransomware. Come eat, drink and learn with us!

Registration closes on February 18

TOM LEVASSEUR

RANSOMWARE IN ACTION

Witness an actual live demo of the world’s most spectacular ransomware doing its damage on a small server set up for the presentation. Watch and learn how the perpetrators prepare the attack, and how victim devices are impacted.  Follow the trail of Bitcoins as they are (barely) laundered through the system.

The past year saw the most widespread ransom attacks yet – mostly launched through exploit code stolen from the NSA.  What did we learn?  How do we defend?  And is the NSA really writing ransomware?

By seeing the ransomware in action, and using it as a case study, we can extract the relevant data to give perspective and inform our discussion on how to fight these things!  Some ransomware attacks would have been so easy to defend against, you’re going to want to cry.
